6. Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa ($16.4 million)
Ferrari’s classic cars are some of the world’s most expensive. This one is no exception. Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa became the 11th most expensive Ferrari car in the world when it was auctioned at Gooding & Company auction in California, United States six years ago. It went to an anonymous buyer for $16.4 million. And two years before that, another copy was sold for $12.4 million. I bet Ralph Lauren spent that much money on his as well.
With this car, Ferrari did not just win races. It dominated some of the World Sports Car Championships such as the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans in late 1950s and early 1960s.
Testa Rossa itself means “Red Head” in Italian. This describes the car’s distinctive feature, which are the red-painted valve covers of its 3.0-L V12 engine.
There were only 34 of this car ever produced. And who knows when one of them may hit the auction house to break a world record once more.
