10. Bentley Birkin Blower ($7.9 million)

Who says bigger cylinder means bigger power? This Bentley Blower has proven that wrong. While the base model this Bentley car is equipped with a 6.5-L engine, this one is more powerful despite lacking two additional cylinders.

Thanks to the blower modification to the 4.5-L engine, this car’s touring model produces 175 bhp at 3,500 rpm. While the racing model produces bigger power, 242 bhp at 2,400 rpm. It was developed for the Le Mans 24-hour race. And for its engine specification, it is also known as the Bentley 4½ Liter.

The name ‘Birkin’ comes from the car’s designer and constructor, Sir Henry Birkin. He was a race car driver himself. He dedicated his life to his love for cars. And unfortunately, his life was also ended because of it. During his pit stop in 1933 Tripoli Grand Prix, he burnt his arm against the hot exhaust pipe.

Also known as Bentley Blower No. 1, the 1929 car hit the Bonhams auction house in Sussex, UK back five years ago. It was sold at around $7.9 million.
