1. A Heritage in Bloom: $200 million (valuation)
Wallace Chan’s necklace for Chow Tai Fook, unveiled in 2015, is built around a 104-carat diamond cut from the 507.55-carat Cullinan Heritage rough. It carries 11,551 diamonds, jade carved into bats and butterflies, and can be worn 27 ways.
The $200 million figure is the reported value of the finished materials, not an auction result. It sits at the top because no other necklace on the list comes close on stones and labor.
2. L’Incomparable: $55 million
Mouawad built this around a 407.48-carat internally flawless yellow diamond found as a rough stone in the Democratic Republic of Congo, then cut into a triolette shape. About 90 white diamonds weighing nearly 230 carats surround it on a rose-gold branch.
It was reportedly certified as the most valuable necklace in 2013 at $55 million, and we have no buyer name to share.
3. The Blue Belle of Asia: $17.3 million
A 392.52-carat unheated blue Ceylon sapphire, cut as a cushion and discovered in Sri Lanka in 1926, hangs from a diamond tassel on a gold neck chain. It sold at Christie’s Geneva in 2014 for $17.3 million to a buyer who stayed anonymous.
The price comes straight from the auction result.
4. The Royal Blue Necklace: $16.19 million
A new entry. Sixteen antique cushion-shaped Kashmir sapphires, led by a 13.37-carat center stone, make up this piece. It sold at Christie’s Hong Kong on November 25, 2025 for HK$125.45 million, about $16.19 million, beating the 2018 record for a Kashmir sapphire necklace.
Our basis is the auction record, one of the sale’s highlights in an evening that raised about $69.5 million in total.
5. The Peacock Necklace: $15 million
This Kashmir sapphire necklace, with 109.08 carats of stones, took $15 million at Christie’s Hong Kong in November 2018. For seven years it held the record that The Royal Blue later broke.

6. Magnificent Ruby and Diamond Necklace: $12.99 million
Designed by Etcetera, this necklace holds 48 unheated pigeon’s blood rubies from Mogok and Mong Shu in Burma, weighing 120 carats, over a lattice of brilliant-cut diamonds. Bidding stopped at $12,997,122 in June 2015, beating the older Crimson Garland.
The auction price is the number we carry.
7. Elizabeth Taylor’s La Peregrina: $11.84 million
The drop-shaped 50.56-carat pearl at the center was found in the Gulf of Panama in the 16th century and passed through eight Spanish kings. Richard Burton bought it in 1969 for $37,000 and gave it to Taylor, who later had Cartier design a pearl, ruby and diamond mount.
At Christie’s New York in December 2011 it sold for $11,842,500. That result is our figure.
8. The Star of China: $11.15 million
William Goldberg spent six months cutting a 160.5-carat rough into the largest perfect D-color briolette diamond ever sold at auction. It hangs with a marquise-cut purplish pink diamond on an 18K white gold chain of smaller briolettes.
Tiffany Chen paid $11,151,245 for it in May 2013 and gave it the name. We take the sale price.
9. The Patino Emerald Necklace: $9.94 million
Cartier built it in 1937 for tin magnate Simon Patino and sold it to him in January 1938. Twelve Colombian emeralds totaling 108.74 carats alternate with twin old-European-cut diamonds, mounted in gold collets.
It crossed the block at Christie’s Geneva in November 2013 for $9,935,280, to an anonymous bidder.
10. The Diamond Riviere: $8.14 million
Fifty-two brilliant-cut type IIa diamonds, each graded D color and internally flawless, run along a 39.8-centimeter platinum chain for a total of 104.84 carats. The largest stone weighs 7.14 carats.
The hammer fell at $8,144,994 in November 2013.
11. The Begum Blue: $7.79 million
Prince Karim Aga Khan IV gave this necklace to Princess Salimah, and after their 1995 divorce she sold her jewelry for charity. Its centerpiece is a 13.78-carat deep blue heart-shaped diamond, next to a 16.04-carat D-color heart, hanging from 41 smaller heart-shaped diamonds.
Laurence Graff bought it at Christie’s Geneva in November 1995 for $7,790,708. That is a 31-year-old price, which would be far higher today.
12. The Crimson Garland: $6.40 million
Edmond Chin’s design holds 35 unheated Burmese rubies weighing 87.78 carats, including two cushion-shaped centerpieces above 10 carats each. A telephone bidder took it home for $6,402,240 in November 2013, and it kept the record for a ruby and diamond necklace until June 2015.
13. Elizabeth Taylor’s Emerald Necklace: $6.13 million
Bulgari made it for Taylor and Burton’s second wedding, using sixteen rectangular and square-cut emeralds, each ringed in diamonds. The estimate was $1 million to $1.5 million. Bulgari itself bought it at Christie’s New York in December 2011 for $6,130,500, roughly four times the high estimate.
14. Elizabeth Taylor’s Sapphire and Diamond Sautoir: $5.91 million
Burton gave Taylor this sautoir for her 40th birthday in 1972. Its octagonal pave-set diamond pendant with a sugar-loaf sapphire weighs 52.72 carats and detaches to be worn as a brooch, on a 29-inch platinum chain of Burmese sapphires.
Bulgari bought it back at the 2011 Christie’s sale for $5,906,500.
15. The Red Scarlet: $5.17 million
James W. Currens designed this necklace of 26 unheated Burmese pigeon’s blood rubies, 62.46 carats in all, each accented with a diamond cluster. The stones sit on a 39.5-centimeter chain of platinum and 18K gold. An anonymous buyer paid $5,168,590 for it in Hong Kong in November 2012.
