This necklace is called the Red Scarlet. Designed by James W. Currens, it was auctioned at Christie’s Hong Kong in November 2012.

The combination of the rare Burmese rubies and flawless diamonds charmed anonymous buyer. He bought it for $5,168,590 at the auction.

This superb necklace is a combination of 26 graduated oval-shaped rubies. They weigh from 1.27 to 5.38 carats. Its total weight is 62.46 carats. And each of these rubies is accented by a cluster of marquise-shaped and pear-shaped diamonds. They are mounted on 39.5-cm-long platinum and 18K yellow gold necklace.

The rubies are from Burma (Myanmar). They are unheated and have pigeon’s blood color variety. The diamonds weigh from 1.00 to 1.21 carat. And they range from D to F color. They are internally flawless to VS2 clarity.
