4. Magnificent Ruby and Diamond Necklace ($12.99 million)

This necklace took over Crimson Garland’s record as the most expensive ruby and diamond necklace sold at auction. In June 2015, it was sold at Christie’s Hong Kong for $12,997,122 to anonymous buyer.

This necklace was designed as an articulated brilliant-cut diamond lattice-work band. It centers on a line of graduated pear-shaped diamonds. And those are framed by two rows of oval-shaped and cushion-shaped rubies. The chain is a brilliant-cut diamond link back. It is accented with a pear-shaped diamond. And it is mounted on a 43.9-cm long 18K white gold.

Designed by Etcetera, this necklace comprises of 48 unheated pigeon’s blood rubies from Mogok and Mong Shu, Burma. They weigh 120 carats in total.

The 13 pear-shaped diamonds weigh from 1.00 to 5.14 carats. They range from D to G color. They are internally flawless to SI1 clarity.
