7. The Star of China ($11.1 million)
When this necklace was sold at Christie’s Hong Kong auction in May 2013, it set a new world record of the most expensive briolette ever sold at auction. It went to Tiffany Chen, the vice chairman of China Star Entertainment Ltd.
Then, she named the necklace The Star of China. Well, after spending $11,151,245 million on it, she has the right to do anything with it.
Master craftsman William Goldberg spent six months cutting a 160.5-carat rough diamond into the largest perfect briolette diamond ever. And it is graded as D color and type IIa diamond. That means, it indicates its internally flawless clarity, excellent polish, and highest level of chemical purity.
The diamond is a part of a pendant necklace with a marquise-cut purplish pink diamond above it. In addition to that, it has 18K white gold chain set with smaller-sized briolette white diamonds. That makes the necklace worth its price.
