N4. Chicago’s Fairy Castle – $500,000
Chicago’s Fairy Castle isn’t the most expensive dollhouse in the world, contrary with the popular opinions.
It belongs to American silent film actress Colleen Moore. Called Fairy Castle, this dollhouse has twelve rooms, and it is 7′ tall.
With over seven years to develop started in 1928, this dollhouse has been on display since the 1950s at the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago.
Since there, it was visited by an estimated 1.5 million people each year. The miniature features a drawing room, great hall, chapel, library, princess’ and prince’s bathroom and bedroom, attic and a magic garden.
During the Great Depression, it toured all of America and raised $700,000 for children’s charities.
