5. Emerald and Diamond Necklace ($6.1 million)
This emerald and diamond necklace was made by Bulgari. It came along with pendants, bracelet, brooch, and ring made of the same jewel, emerald and diamond. You have seen some of them earlier on this list.
It was sold at $6,130,500 to an anonymous buyer. In fact, that is far more expensive than the estimated price which was around $1 million to $1.5 million.
Like most of Elizabeth Taylor’s pieces of jewelry, this one was also given by her husband as a gift. It was for their second wedding in 1975 after they were separated for about a year.
This beautiful piece comprises a graduated series of sixteen rectangular-cut and square-cut emeralds. And each of them is within a circular-cut diamond surround. It is spaced by graduated circular-cut, marquise-cut and pear-shaped diamond qua-trefoils. It is also mounted in platinum 1962 with pendant hoop for suspension.
