One of the most expensive liquids on Earth is the perfume. And one of those luxury perfumes is Chanel No. 5. Released in 1922, Chanel No. 5 is the first perfume released by French couturier Gabrielle ‘Coco’ Chanel.
Gabrielle had her chemist Ernest Beaux to develop the formula for the fragrance. When he was done, he brought Chanel a few samples, and she chose one called number 5.
Soon after that they decided to keep the perfume initial name because “it will bring good luck”.
However, Chanel is no longer the most expensive perfume, the Clive Christian perfume which is priced at $215,000 for 16.90 ounces took its place.
This is now the most expensive perfume in the world. Well, that until someone decides to make another one.
