10. Walt Disney World Florida, USA ($3.85 billion)
Forty five years ago, Walt Disney World Florida was built. The initial plan was to build an attraction different with the existing Disneyland in California. Unfortunately, Walt Disney passed away before the construction even began. Thus, it became just another Disneyland.
But that does not stop this attraction to bloom. It is currently the most visited vacation resort in the world. Not bad for a copy, huh?
The whole attraction consists of twenty-seven themed resort hotels, nine non–Disney hotels, four themed parks, two water parks, several golf courses, a camping resort, and other entertainment venues. Those occupy a stunning 27,258 acres area.
With such features, it should come as no surprise that it cost over $331 million (in 1971) to build in addition to the land’s cost which was around $50,000 per acre. In total, it was around $3.85 in today’s dollars.
