8. Disneyland, France ($5 billion)
Yep, another Disneyland. Knowing how successful this company is, it should come as no surprise that these Disney attractions are all over our list.
Disneyland Paris was opened in 1992. It is located at a small farming town, 25 km east of Paris, France. It was meant to be the largest investment in the history of France.
Initially, the project cost was estimated to be just around $1 billion. However, there were many design and construction changes compared to the original plan. Thus, the cost escalated to $5 billion. This lead into some crisis. The park had to cover the $4 billion debt by charging visitors.
Long story short, they managed to survive the crisis. Occupying 4,800-acre area, Disneyland Paris is going pretty strong with two theme parks, several resort hotels, shopping-dining-entertainment complex, golf course, in addition to several additional recreational and entertainment venues.
