N4. 1915 Cyclone Board Track Racer — $520,000
At the time it was auctioned, this bike held the world record for highest price for a motorcycle sold at an auction.
These vehicles were very rare in their day which is why to find one in such an immaculate condition is an amazing discovery.
It featured a 996cc, 45 degree V-Twin with bevel-driven overhead camshafts and timed at 111 mph in 1915.
Between the late 1910s and early 1920s, the companies began to produce racing motorcycles. They had only one goal: to build the fastest motorcycle the world has seen.
They would try anything in order to achieve the goal. And that’s how the 1915 Cyclone Board Track Racer was born.
The bike used a45 horsepower V-Twin engine that had hemispherical combustion chambers.
These were only produced for two years and only 12 are known to exist today.
This motorcycle was purchased at a Monterey Mid-American auction in 2008 for $520,000.
