4. Porsche 718 RSK ($2.86 million)
As you can tell by now, some of the criteria of these most expensive Porsche are either they are very antique, embody a great concept, the road car versions of race-winning car, or are the race cars itself, like this Porsche 718 RSK. It is one of the closest models to Porsche’s first race car, Porsche 550.
Racing is not just a sport. As you can see from Formula 1 Grand Prix, it is also about improving and developing technology within a car. And this car is the product of Porsche’s effort to keep perfecting the 550 race car.
Compared to the first Porsche race car, this one has lower front frame which resembles the letter K, hence the name RSK. This particular Porsche 718 RSK came from the year of 1959. That is the best year of this model as it was when this car is most refined.
Porsche 718 RSK is powered by 1.5-liter 2-cylinder DOHC engine. There were only 37 of them built. And one of them fell into Jerry Seinfeld’s hand. As he put this up on an auction earlier this year in Florida, it went to its new owner for $2.86 million.
