3. Porsche 917 Can-Am Spyder ($3 million)
We have seen several models of Porsche 917 on this list. And here is another one. While those other models competed mainly in Europe endurance races such as the 24 Hours of Le Mans, this one was built to compete at North American Can-Am Challenge race series.
Different race, different requirements. For Can-Am, Porsche had to adjust the existing Porsche 917 with a more powerful engine. Thus, this one is equipped with a 5.4-liter V12 turbocharged engine. With such powerful engine, it should come as no surprise that this car can produce power output of 1,580 hp!
The Porsche 917 turbo car was so powerful. And of course, it dominated the 1973 season. The team won all races but two. It was so hard to compete with this powerful car. So hard that one of its competitors, McLaren, left the Can-Am to take on another race series.
Among all 16 cars Jerry Seinfeld sold at Gooding & Co. auction, this Porsche 917 Can-Am came out as a winner. A collectible-car enthusiast took home this beauty after winning the bid for $3 million.
