9. Porsche 917K Road Car ($2 million)
Before the Porsche 962C even began competing at Le Mans race, This Porsche 917K had already became a speed demon legend at some other 24 Hours endurance races.
As the race rules of the car specification kept changing in order to balance safety and entertainment, Porsche developed its sports car over and over again. Porsche 917K is one of among several products of that development.
The “K” in 917K stands for Kurzheck, or “short tail” in German. Built in 1970, this model is indeed has a more up-swept tail with gaffer tape and aluminum sheet.
The road car version of this Porsche 917K was redesigned. Some changes were made to make the car suits the road better. However, both the race car and the road car are powered with 5.0-liter V12 engine. Imagine the sound this $2 million car makes as it roars through the streets with such power!
