8. Porsche Rinspeed zaZen ($2 million)
Rinspeed is actually another automobile manufacturer from Switzerland. This is its concept car designed by Frank Rinderknecht. The concept of zaZen is automotive enlightenment. This is showcased within the car’s holographic brake lamp and transparent roof dome.
The entire body was built with Bayer MaterialScience technology. It is one of the world’s largest plastics producers. Because of the light materials used, this car is relatively lighter than other cars within its class. But the top quality materials make sure that it does not compromise the body’s strength.
What is the advantage of driving a light car? It does not require too much power to accelerate. This 1,495-kg car is powered by a 3.8-liter 4-cylinder DOHC engine from Porsche. It is the same engine used on Porsche Carrera S.
This Rinspeed zaZen Porsche-powered car was first introduced at Geneva Motor Show in 2006. One unit of this great concept car is sold at $2 million.
