5) International Fusion Experiment -$2.4 billion
The project called International Fusion Experiment was funded in 2006. Initially they agreed the project will have a cost of $12.8 billion.
And because it’s an international experiment it was not only funded by the U.S., but also by the European Union, China, India, Japan, Russia, and South Korea.
Before 2020, the project will be the largest magnetic confinement plasma physics experiment in use.
Designed to produce 500 megawatts of output of 50 megawatts of input, the project will be extremely useful for efficient energy and conservation.
