1. George Washington’s Acts of Congress – Sold for: $9.8m
And the most expensive signed merchandise piece is George Washington’s very own copy of the Constitution, Bill of Rights and the First Congress, printed in 1789, sold at Sotheby’s in 2012 for $9.8m.
It was purchased by the Mount Vernon Ladies’ Association, “the oldest women’s patriotic society in the United States”, partly responsible for maintaining the former President’s historic home. Apparently, the auction was over in 5 minutes and the book now lives back in George Washington’s old library.
