1- Space Shuttle Program- $196 billion
This Space Shuttle Program is the most expensive space project and mission in the world and it belongs to NASA.
It was the USA government’s manned launched vehicle program which took place between 1981 and 2011.
The official date for the beginning of the project is 1972.
The program included 135 missions in which six Space Shuttle orbiters were used. Two of these orbits (Columbia and Challenger) ended with 14 astronaut deaths because it exploded.
The last Space Shuttle launch took place on July 8, 2001 with Atlantis.
During that time, huge costs were accumulated. The final estimations were around $195 billion when it ended in 2011.
