These guys are the best legends in sports. The cards picturing Ty Cobb and Babe Ruth for example, sold for thousands of dollars.

The cards are sold on the same principle the antique cars are sold. Meaning, the older the card, the more money a collector will pay for it.

The price of the cards was relatively low when the cards first appeared, but the same as wine, after time passes the cards become more expensive.

10. George Mikan, Basketball, 1948 Bowman – $218,550

We begin with George Mikan, the guy who made a name for himself by playing for the Chicago American Gears and Minneapolis Lakers of the NBL and then later BAA and NBA.

He was a basketball player, a great one I might add.

George was an influential and dominant player in the sport world. Because of him and his temper, several rules changed.

From those rules we state: outlawing goal-keeping, widening the foul lane and introduction of a shot clock.

Mikan was the winner of 7 league titles and 5 league scoring titles in his entire career.

George Mikan, Basketball, 1948 Bowman basketball card is often considered the “Honus Wagner” of basketball cards because of its rarity.
