Haven’t you heard of Henry Louis “Lou” or “Buster” Gehrig? He was widely associated with the disease that killed him the ALS or Lou Gehrig’s disease.
He was an American baseball first baseman who played 17 seasons in Major League Baseball for the New York Yankees.
Gehrig was famous for his prowess as a hitter and for his durability. Because of those features he got himself the nickname of “The Iron Horse”.
He was a seven-time All-Star and six-time World Series champion and also won the Triple Crown in 1934.
It was twice named the American League’s Most Valuable Player. In 2011, a mint condition 1933 Goudey card from the collection of Charles Merkel sold for an impressive $274,950.
