5. Tomb of Mumtaz Mahal (Estimated Cost: $75 million)

The Tomb of Mumtaz Mahal is more commonly known as the Taj Mahal. This tomb is similar to Humayun’s Tomb but bigger and more popular. This one lies on the south bank of the Yamuna river in Agra, India.

Shah Jahan, a Mughal emperor, built the tomb in 1632 for his late wife, Mumtaz Mahal. The tomb itself lies in the center of a 42-acre plot. Beneath, lies Mumtaz Mahal. Besides the tomb, there are mosque and guest house within.

The tomb was mostly built of white marble. Like the Humayun’s tomb, it is a square building with arch and large domes. It has something to do with the Persian heritage.

The whole Taj Mahal cost around 32 million Indian Rupees back then. That is around $1 billion today. The estimated cost to build the tomb alone is 75 million.
