The most popular Pantheon is arguably the one in Rome. But we are looking at the Pantheon in France, which is the house of distinguished French citizens’ remains.
Its construction started in 1757 under King Louis XV’s command. Two architects were assigned to design it. They are Jacques-Germain Soufflot and Guillaume Rondelet. However, due to the nation’s financial issues, it took more than thirty years to complete.
Originally, this Pantheon was supposed to be a church which houses the relics of St. Genevieve. As you can tell, itt went through a lot of changes in both construction and function.
The building is 85 meters wide, 110 meters long, and 83 meters high. It is built of stone and marble. The estimated cost to build the Pantheon is around $100 million.
