8. Royal Mausoleum, Frogmore (Estimated Cost: $20 million)
As it was mentioned on the previous section, only ashes are allowed to be interred in the abbey since 1906. Thus, the royal family chose another spot to lay their remains. It is the Royal Mausoleum in Frogmore.
It is basically 33 acres of private gardens with luxurious mausoleums and graveyards. The name Frogmore is actually inspired by the frogs around the River Thames.
The Royal Mausoleum is the largest building on the ground of Frogmore. It is where Queen Victoria and Prince Albert rest in peace. Its construction started in 1861. It took one year to stand up, but it took a decade to finish the decoration.
Part of the decoration is the sculptures of the departed in Saxon Dress by William Theed. This mausoleum alone, with all its decorations, is estimated to cost $20 million to build.
