Most Expensive Writing Instruments

N6. Typewriter-$254,500

We normally don’t use typewriters on our daily basis, but there are some people who are.

Actually, Tom Hanks is even collecting them! He loves them so much that he made an app!

(You can find out more about Tom’s typewriters collection here)

Apart from Tom Hanks, there are other people interested in collecting such old typewriters.

One of those typewriters sold at an auction for $254,500.

A light blue Lettera 32 Olivetti manual machine belonged to the author Cormac McCarthy. You might know him as the author of several famous books such as All the Pretty Horses, No Country for Old Men and The Road.

Back in 1963, McCarthy only paid like $50 bucks for it, and today people were willing to pay more than $200,000!
