Put Yourself in the Shoes of Wimbledon Champions

11. Wearing All White

Wimbledon is all about tradition. When it started centuries ago, the all-white attire was not strictly ruled as today. When tennis was played in 1800s, sweaty patches were considered inappropriate. Hence the all-white clothing. So, it all started just as an effort to avoid embarrassment.

Then it became a tradition. Back in the days, before the rules applied, some players were even told to change their attire before the match. Now, it has become a part of the written rules and terms of the Grand Slam.

The color does not convey the match only. As soon as they enter the Wimbledon area, such as practice court and lounge, they must follow this rule.

Some may think this is ridiculous. But some players say they are proud of wearing all-white. It has become the trademark of Wimbledon itself.
