10. Christian Dior Haute Couture does regal excess – A/W 2004
Before his fall from grace in 2011, and almost full career recovery in 2013, John Galliano was making waves at Christian Dior, particularly with his haute couture shows, some of the most extravagant fashion shows in existence.
In a French regency style, with rich fabrics and dresses so big they swallowed the skinny models, Galliano’s collection was far from ready-to-wear. The only criticism the show really received was that it was quite repetitive in its excess. Vogue’s Sarah Mower praised the collection, but also referred to it as “one queenly message, repeated 28 times.”
