3. Water.org (Matt Damon)
In 2009, actor Matt Damon co-founded Water.org. This charity foundation goes way back from 1990 when it was formerly known as Water Partners International (founded by Gary White) before it merged with H2O Africa (founded by Matt Damon in 2006).
Water.org focuses on providing access to safe water and sanitation for some communities particularly in Africa, South Asia, and Central America. The first money raised was $4,300 in 1990 for El Limon, a village in Honduras.
Now, Water.org has helped more than 3 million people to access safe water and sanitation. This is far from success considering there are more than 600 million people in the world struggling for source of clean and safe water. Until today, they are still fighting for it.
