10. Has four motor generating units (MGU).
Electric car manufacturers, including Tesla and NextEV, have answered people’s doubt in terms of their cars’ power. The best way to do that is by producing four-wheel-drive electric cars, like this NIO EP9. From some of the world’s most expensive SUVs, we have learned that such cars require some top-notch features.
“Four wheels. Four MGUs. One precisely controlled ride.” That is how NextEV NIO describes this car’s Motor Generating Unit (MGU) system.
NIO EP9 is equipped with four inboard MGUs to allow fast cornering and track stability levels. This is pretty rare in electric cars. But we should have expected this kind of feature from the Formula E car manufacturer.
They call this feature torque vectoring. With four MGUs, this electric car can produce a peak torque of 1,480 NM at motor and 6,334 nm at wheels to go from 0 to 100 kph. Both are from 0 to 7,500 rpm.
