We have talked about this bank heist before. Valerio Viccei migrated to the UK from Italy, back in 1986.
He was wanted for 50 armed robberies, and decided to continue his successful career in his new homeland, where he and an accomplice entered the Knightsbridge Safe Deposit Centre.
The thieves asked to rent a Safe Deposit Box, an excuse to enter the vault. After he entered, they subdued the manger and the guards.
Then the gang plundered the safe deposit boxes at will and grabbed an estimated of 60 million pounds, which with inflation adjusted is $174million in today’s money.
The police were not alerted until an hour after the robbery, which gave the team plenty of time to flee the scene.
