The city of Vancouver has the best plan of the greenest cities in the world and wants to make every builder in town to adopt the new law where they have to use green construction materials and low-flow water devices.
By the year 2017 Vancouver wants to be carbon neutral using technology to reduce carbon usage in the building domain.
Some of the things used in these buildings are dual-flush toilets, geothermal heating and light sensors all of them being a necessary equipment used for the new building programs.
The transport will have its own changes, the bikeways and lanes making the commute more easily and the usage of fossil fuel will be entirely replaced with wind, water and solar power.
In Vancouver 93% of the electricity is based on hydroelectric power and the program called the Greenest City Initiative is the most ambitious program that will make the city by the years 2020 the greenest city in the world. Some of the initiatives of the program are great but those that will probably be the fastest implemented are: waste reduction and doubling the green jobs and green business.
