N9. Forrest Gump: $677.4 Million
This is a 1986 novel written by Winston Groom. You may know the film, but the book was here long before.
The novel retells the characters’ adventures ranging from shrimp boating and ping pong championships to thinking about his childhood love, as he bumbles his way through American history. The book has everything from the Vietnam War to college football.
Everyone saw the movie, but the book remains relatively obscure with an absolutely filthy and completely different tone from the massively popular film adaptations.
This classic supplied us with ever-quotable lines such as ‘life is like a box of chocolates’ and the heart-breaking, ‘Mama always said, dying was a part of life. I sure wish it wasn’t.’, Tom Hanks immortalized this fictional character on-screen in one of the most memorable roles of his career.
