It’s a live-action retelling of a classic cartoon and there is only one guy who could pull such a role- Jim Carrey.
When it was released, the film made over $55 million in that weekend. It was not only a family comedy but also a musical.
With a large number of musical acts, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, won several awards and was nominated for many others.
The Grinch was nominated for three Academy Awards. The first two, Best Costume Design and Best Art Direction, went to films other than The Grinch.
And the third nomination for Best Makeup was won by the Grinch team. All in all, the film carried away $260 million domestically.
It was inspired by the 1966 animated version of the timeless Dr. Seuss book which follows the Grinch as he discovers the true meaning of Christmas.
