#9 Tiger Woods – $50.6 Million
According to the new Forbes list, Tiger Woods is the second highest-paid golfer in the world. The American professional golf player is among the most successful and richest athletes in the world, and it has been for some time.
He turned professional in the late summer of 1996, at the age of 20. And by April 1997 he had already won his first major, the 1997 Masters in a record-breaking performance, winning the tournament by 12 strokes.
After winning the Arnold Palmer Invitational in 2013, he ranked no. 1 again, holding the top spot until May 2014. Because he had back disc surgery in April the same year, he has struggled ever since to regain his number one place.
This year he is ranked #9 among the highest-paid athletes list released by Forbes.
