6. Richard Prince
American artist Richard Prince focused on a variety of themes in his work, including cowboys, gangs and celebrities. Some of his work, including a piece which sold for $1 million at auction, appropriates the work of other photographers, called rephotography.
One of Prince’s most controversial works is Spiritual America (1983), which features a highly sexualised image of 10 year-old Brooke Shields, which he appropriated from an image originally taken by Garry Gross. It later sold for $3.9 million in 2014.
Some of Prince’s latest work involves a collaboration with famous fashion house Louis Vuitton.
