In the movie, Evelyn is an American who pretended to be British. She had an affair with a married man, Irving Rosenfeld. They started the scamming business together.
In real life, Evelyn was actually British. She migrated to United States when she was in her late 20s. Her hotness was used by her husband as a ploy to conduct business.
