The most stylish houses in movies are real buildings you can still look up, from a Lake Union houseboat to Frank Lloyd Wright’s Ennis House. This list covers ten real homes, what they cost, and what has happened to them by October 2026. The Home Alone house is the clearest price story: it sold for $1.585 million in 2012 and $5.5 million in early 2025.

10. The “Sleepless in Seattle” Houseboat: Lake Union, Seattle
The floating home where Tom Hanks’ character lives in Sleepless in Seattle (1993) is moored on Lake Union. It has about 2,200 square feet inside and four bedrooms, and the owners lived on the water rather than beside it.
It changed hands in 2014 for a reported figure of just over $2 million, after a $2.5 million asking price in 2008. The buyer, a Seattle tech executive, reportedly uses it as a part-time summer home.
How we valued it: reported 2014 private sale price, not a public record.
9. Fleur de Lys, Holmby Hills: The Green Hornet
Fleur de Lys is a roughly 50,000 square foot chateau-style estate on Carolwood Drive in Los Angeles, built in 2002. It served as a location for The Green Hornet (2011), among other productions.
It was listed at $125 million in 2007. In 2014 it reportedly sold for $102 million including furnishings and art, a record for Los Angeles County at the time, though later reporting put the figure at $88.3 million.
How we valued it: reported 2014 sale, shown as a range because the reports disagree.
8. The “Home Alone” House: Winnetka, Illinois
The McCallister home from Home Alone (1990) is a real house at 671 Lincoln Avenue in Winnetka, on Chicago’s North Shore. The home has 9,126 square feet, five bedrooms and six bathrooms.
It sold for $1.585 million in 2012. After a May 2024 listing at $5.25 million, it sold for $5.5 million, a sale reported as finalized in January 2025. That is more than three times the 2012 price.
How we valued it: two reported sale prices, 2012 and early 2025.
7. Greystone Mansion: Beverly Hills
Greystone is a 55-room, 46,000 square foot Tudor Revival mansion on 16 acres. Oil tycoon Edward Doheny built it as a gift for his son, at a cost of more than $3.1 million, which made it the most expensive home in California when it was finished.
Beverly Hills bought it in 1965 and it opened as a public park in 1971. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is one of the most filmed houses in Los Angeles. There Will Be Blood (2007) reportedly paid to restore its bowling alley.
How we valued it: it is not for sale, so we rank it on build cost and film history rather than market price.
6. The Sheats-Goldstein Residence: Benedict Canyon, Beverly Crest
John Lautner designed this cave-like house between 1961 and 1963 around a sandstone ledge, with five bedrooms and a living room that opens fully to the terrace. Businessman James Goldstein bought it in 1972 and spent two decades refining it with Lautner until the architect died in 1994.
It appears in The Big Lebowski (1998) as the home of Jackie Treehorn. In 2016 Goldstein promised the house, its art and its contents to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.
How we valued it: promised to a museum, so no market price applies.
5. The “Wolf of Wall Street” Penthouse: The Milan, Midtown East
A penthouse at The Milan condominium, 300 East 55th Street, appears in The Wolf of Wall Street (2013). The building offers a doorman, concierge, health club and garage, and the unit has floor-to-ceiling glass on several sides.
The owner paid $4.5 million in 2005. It came to market at $6.5 million in 2013 and was relisted at $4.95 million in April 2026. A broker page reports a $4.65 million sale closing in July 2026, which we could not confirm independently.
How we valued it: 2005 purchase, listing history and one unconfirmed 2026 sale report.
4. Villa Överby: The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
Martin Vanger’s modernist home in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2011) is Villa Överby, on a rocky hilltop plateau on the Värmdö peninsula east of Stockholm. Swedish architect John Robert Nilsson designed it.
Floor-to-ceiling glass and a continuous floor line from living room to terrace and pool make it look boundless. The film uses that cool, clinical minimalism to suit its villain.
How we valued it: private residence with no public sale price, so we rank it on design.
3. The Hoke House: The Cullen home in Twilight
The Cullen house in the first Twilight film is a real house at 3333 NW Quimby Street in Portland, Oregon. Architect Jeff Kovel designed it for Nike executive John Hoke. The house has about 4,159 square feet, four bedrooms and four and a half bathrooms.
It reportedly sold for $2.5 million in March 2022 and is a private home, so it is not open to visitors.
How we valued it: one reported 2022 sale.
2. Hatfield House: Hertfordshire, England
Robert Cecil, 1st Earl of Salisbury, built this Jacobean house in 1611 on the site of the royal palace where the young Elizabeth I grew up. The Cecil family still owns it, and its state rooms and 42 acres of gardens are open to visitors.
Films shot there include Batman (1989), Orlando (1992), Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005) and several Tomb Raider titles.
How we valued it: a historic family estate, ranked on age and screen record rather than price.
1. The Ennis House: Los Feliz, Los Angeles
We replaced the original number one, which we could not trace to a verifiable property, with a house that is easy to document. Frank Lloyd Wright designed the Ennis House in a Mayan Revival style and finished it in 1925 on a hilltop in Los Feliz. Its walls are built from patterned concrete textile blocks, and the main house has about 6,000 square feet.
The house has been on screen for decades, including the 1959 horror film House on Haunted Hill, and passed through nine owners. One buyer paid $119,000 for it in 1968, when it was run down and hard to sell.
How we valued it: a Wright design ranked on architecture and film history, with the 1968 price as a historic marker.
