10 Interesting Facts You Didn’t Know About Coca-Cola

1. Coca-Cola Ran a Campaign Against Tap Water

It is known that Coke spent about $1.7 million for “The Coalition against the Costly Food Labeling Proposition” so running a campaign against tap water is not that strange.

It all happened in the early 2000s when Coca-Cola ran the “H2NO Campaign”; their attempt was to dissuade diners from ordering tap water drinks at restaurants.

They hoped and proposed that the clients will go for more profitable beverages such as bottled water, non-carbonated beverages, and of course soft drinks- including Coke.

The campaign involved the waiters to learn and use suggestive selling techniques to offer others alternatives beverages instead of water.

Of course this campaign was meant to be secret, until a graphic designer from Sacramento discovered an article named “The Olive Garden Targets Tap Water & Wins” on the Coca-Cola online public blog.

Like expected, the event was picked up by several news programs and reported on it. Coke received numerous critics about the “secret” campaign.
