And for Coca-Cola to continue to operate as it is, as we all know it, the company has a special arrangement with DEA (Drug Enforcement Agency).
Due to that agreement, Coke can import dried coca leaves from Peru in huge amounts. It wasn’t fair for the company to be named Coca-Cola without the actual coca leaves in the ingredients.
A company in New Jersey extracts cocaine from the coca leaves for medical uses. Then they ship the remains to Coke. Everyone benefits from this deal.
