Jennifer Lopez was born in The Bronx, New York. But her parents, Guadalupe Rodriquez and David Lopez, came from Puerto Rico. And that makes her a Latina.
More than 90% Puerto Rican speak Spanish, J-Lo’s parents included. So, they should be speaking a lot of Spanish at home where J-Lo grew up in. But surprisingly, she struggles to converse in Spanish.
Even though she has Spanish hits, and even Spanish albums, J-Lo admitted that she would never take Spanish-speaking role. She didn’t think she would act well in Spanish.
Regardless, Jennifer Lopez is proud of being a Latina. And she encourages Spanish parents to educate their kids in both languages, English and Spanish. As she said, “We have a wonderful culture to offer, we need to share it with the world.”
Her recent Instagram post showed her reading a Spanish bedtime story to her twins on a private jet.
