3. Refugees are welcome?
This matter may not seem like a huge deal. But this is the result of so many controversial statements JK Rowling has thrown through her Twitter handle. From LGBT to Johnny Depp issues, fans criticized her actions (and in some cases, her responds). And this particular matter is the most recent.
As one of her routines of being anti-Trump, she commented on Trump’s issue about immigrants and refugees. Although this was not directed to him, but to people in Europe and worldwide. Her statement was fine. But the “#refugeeswelcome’ she put became a problem.
When you are famous and very influential like JK Rowling, your opinion has bigger impact to society. I’m sure she meant well with that tweet. But some people may have seen it differently.
Regardless the motivation, someone took this chance to challenge Rowling to live up to her words by welcoming refugees. They started a petition on change.org, demanding her to grant no less than eighteen Muslim refugees in her mansions for at least eight years. So far, over 44,000 people have signed it.
