Her relationship with her parents got complicated. Somehow, her father became absent. And the two reached the point of being not on speaking terms.

This was also the point where her mother got really sick. She suffered from multiple sclerosis for years. And after ten years of fighting the disease, she passed away.

Near the end of her mother’s life, Rowling already started writing Harry Potter. But she did not tell her about it. Her mother’s death affected her writing a lot. And as she resumed her writing, she channeled her grieve into Harry’s feelings of losing both of his parents.

Harry’s orphanhood had been planned all along. But Rowling’s own loss strengthened Harry’s and affected its expose.
