1. Range Rover Sport

The Range Rover Sport is our pick because it is the car here best suited to deep snow. Land Rover sells the Dynamic SE from around $90,800 before an $1,850 destination charge, with a P460e plug-in hybrid option rated at roughly 454 combined horsepower and about 51 miles of electric range.

The P550e plug-in hybrid sits on the Autobiography trim, which starts at about $118,700. Prices shift with options; confirm with a dealer.

Off-road capability and luxury in one package, at a price well below the supercar SUVs.

2. Mercedes-AMG G 63 and G 550

The G-Class remains the classic winter luxury vehicle. Mercedes lists the G 550 at $153,900 with 443 hp, and the AMG G 63 at $198,750 with a 577 hp biturbo V8 with hybrid assist and 4MATIC all-wheel drive. The G 550 has three sequentially lockable differentials.

The six-wheel G 63 6×6 on our old list is no longer a current model. The standard G 63 is the one to buy now.

Lockable differentials and a rugged build, at a high price.

3. BMW X5

The BMW X5 comes in the 375 hp xDrive40i with a 3.0-litre turbo inline-six, and in the xDrive50e plug-in hybrid with a combined 483 hp. Both use xDrive all-wheel drive.

Reported US starting prices before destination are about $70,000 for the 40i and about $76,000 for the 50e, with a $1,450 destination fee, though sources disagree by a few thousand dollars. This is the sensible default for a luxury winter family car.

XDrive on every trim and the most accessible price among the SUVs.

4. Audi A6 allroad quattro

The A6 allroad is a wagon with quattro all-wheel drive and a raised suspension. Audi lists it from $73,100 for the Premium Plus trim, with the Prestige trim starting at $79,200 according to listings.

Choose it if you want a low, quiet car and refuse an SUV. It replaces the A3 Sedan on our old list.

5. Porsche 911 Carrera 4S

The 2026 Carrera 4S has a 3.0-litre twin-turbo flat-six making 473 hp and 390 lb-ft, with standard all-wheel drive and an eight-speed PDK. The T-Hybrid system is used on the GTS and Turbo S, not on the 4S.

The coupe starts at about $164,500 according to one major listing, though early estimates and dealer pages range from about $156,000 to $160,000. Fit proper winter tires and it is a legitimate all-season sports car.

A sports car with standard AWD, though lower to the ground than anything above it.

6. Lamborghini Urus SE

The Urus SE is a plug-in hybrid with all-wheel drive. Base prices in listings range from about $246,000 to $277,000, and options can push a car above $300,000.

7. Ferrari Purosangue

The Purosangue is Ferrari’s four-door, four-seat SUV with a naturally aspirated 6.5-litre V12 producing 715 hp, sent to all four wheels through an eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox. Listed prices run from about $398,000 to $433,000.

The old Ferrari FF, produced from 2011 to 2016, was replaced by the GTC4Lusso, which ended in 2020. The Purosangue is the current four-wheel-drive Ferrari.

The most exclusive winter car here and the most expensive.

8. Bentley Continental GT Speed

The 2026 Continental GT is now a plug-in hybrid with a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 and all-wheel drive. Listed prices for the Speed vary widely, from about $382,695 to over $450,000.

This is the grand tourer in the group. Choose it for comfort and a long winter drive, not for deep snow.
