For that one fight, Mayweather did bag a lot of money. But what about his annual salary and bonus? Let’s break down the facts.
According to Forbes, Mayweather made $32 million a year from salary and winnings. This number is pretty low because he only fought twice a year at most. In fact, in some period, he only fought once a year.
As mentioned earlier, McGregor makes around $3 million of salary and somewhere around $10 million pay-per-view bonus for one single fight only. And prior to his last fight in November 2016, he fought no less than three times twelve months back. All four of those fights gained more than 1 million pay-per-view buys. So, just by assuming he was paid the same amount as his rematch against Nate Diaz, he already made $52 million in a year.
Mayweather could have won this round in a landslide as he did the previous round. But since McGregor is a more active fighter, Mayweather has to give this round to the Notorious.
