8. Swag Doesn’t Matter without the Belt.
Of course, there is another way, a better one, to exude confidence for these fighters: wear your belts in pride. And Mayweather has tons of them. He won a lot of titles from all four boxing organizations recognized worldwide.
This may benefit Mayweather on this round against McGregor, but this fact is actually a shame to the boxing sport. Because there are more than one boxing organization in the world, we have more than one world champion for the same title. Imagine United States has four basketball associations, or FIFA has three other competitors in holding World Cup event. It just takes away a little from what the title means, doesn’t it?
Anyway, Mayweather has won nine major world titles in various divisions. He even held two particular belts twice throughout his entire career. That excludes minor world titles he also got.
McGregor in the other hand, currently holds the UFC lightweight world champion belt. He is actually the first ever to hold two belts simultaneously from two different divisions before he gave up one to focus on his current division.
Besides UFC, there are other MMA championships in the world. But if McGregor decides to compete in those, he would be stripped from his UFC title. So, to be fair, there is no way for McGregor to match Mayweather’s belts quantity for now.
