We mentioned how Mercedes has been trying to plug every car niche possible. You can see this from its hundreds of car models ranging from truck, buses, luxury cars, sports cars, to formula cars. And now, the manufacturer is finally taking on the one-tonne pickup.

On its official website, Mercedes calls this new X-Class as one of the last gaps in the portfolio. With this, Mercedes will become the first premium manufacturer to occupy the mid-size pickup segment.

And Daimler AG is pretty serious about it. The company claims that around high nine figures Euro of investments will be put into researching, developing, and manufacturing this Mercedes-Benz X-Class.

“With the Mercedes-Benz pickup, we will close one of the last gaps in our portfolio. Our target: We want to offer customers vehicles matching their specific needs. The X-Class will set new standards in a growing segment.” – Dr. Dieter Zetsche, Head of Mercedes-Benz Cars.
