Flavio Briatore is no longer contributing to Formula 1. In fact, he was banned from the sport. But it will be a sin not to mention this infamous millionaire on this list since he was one of the most important people on the sport.
Briatore scouted some great talents of Formula 1 including former World Champion, Fernando Alonso. As team principal, he brought Renault F1 team to win the World Constructors’ Championship. Unfortunately, it all went south on him and forced him to end his Formula 1 team managing career.
He was the one behind the infamous Spygate. His team was alleged to receive confidential technical information from the McLaren team. And if that was not bad enough, three years later, he was personally alleged with a race fixing scandal. Nelson Piquet Jr., who was driving for Renault F1, confessed to FIA that Briatore told him to deliberately crash his car in order to help his teammate, Alonso.
Briatore left the team and he was banned from managing any F1 team. However, about a year later, the decision was overturned.
Regardless, Briatore played a huge part in the development of Formula 1 Gran Prix. And today, he has a total $150 million of estimated net worth.
