In spite of his involvement in the infamous Spygate which led his team to a $100 million fine, Ron Dennis is still contributing in the Formula 1 Gran Prix. He is the current Team Principal of McLaren Formula 1 team.
But his role exceeds his position. He is also the founder, shareholder, and chairman of McLaren Automotive which houses the F1 team, Technology Group, and many other.
Under his command, McLaren F1 team has won a lot of constructors’ championship titles. And on top of that, several legendary F1 drivers won their drivers’ championship titles with this team. Among them are Niki Lauda, Alain Prost, Ayrton Senna, Mika Häkkinen, and Lewis Hamilton.
According to Sunday Times, Ron Dennis is ranked 13th on the British Driving Rich List with £300 million (or around $375 million) of estimated net worth.
As a Formula 1 fan, I hope Ron Dennis will stay as McLaren’s team principal next season, and seasons afterwards. In spite of his past wrongs, I just cannot imagine a Formula 1 world without him.
