Montblanc’s $1.5 million pen inspired by Johannes Kepler is a must have for a true writer!
Earlier this year, Montblanc officially released a new limited-edition writing instrument, inspired by scientist Johannes Kepler, named the High Artistry Homage to Johannes Kepler Limited Edition.
If you did not know, the German-born Johannes Kepler is a revered for his genius in the fields of math and astronomy who has worked during the late 16th century through the mid-17th century.
Now, the German-based Montblanc company, which is famous for its luxurious pens, watches and other lavish goods, makes the artist proud with their latest collection.
This collection, just like the other collections in Montblanc portfolio, includes several versions of the pen, including the Johannes Kepler High Artistry Stella Nova Limited Edition 1, Johannes Kepler High Pede Serpentari Limited Edition 39, Johannes Kepler High Artistry Astronomia Nova Limited Edition 9, and Johannes Kepler High Artistry Somnium Limited Edition 5.

The Johannes Kepler High Artistry Stella Nova Limited Edition 1 is a unique pen with the cap and the barrel featuring 570 diamonds and 5,294 blue sapphires designed to recall the magic of the Milky Way in the night sky. This pen is priced at $1.5 million.
The pen comes with its own porcelain stand designed by Porzellan Manufaktur Nymphenburg. The stand is shaped to resemble a seventeenth century scrolled collar that Kepler himself wore.
On top of this collar is an open porcelain scroll that features one of Kepler’s planetary drawings. Also included is a pair of cufflinks shaped like Kepler’s model of the solar system.
Second item in the collection is Homage to Johannes Kepler High Pede Serpentari Limited Edition 39, which includes 39 pieces. This pen is inspired by Kepler’s book De Stella Nova in Pede Serpentari.
Featuring a cap lacquered in a rich blue and featuring a ring of diamonds, the white gold pen has its barrel adorned with 3D engravings of Sagittarius and Ophiuchus constellations as they appear in the book.
It also features a telescope-like silhouette with three rings on the cap which represent the three laws of planetary motion, while an opal on the cap’s top stands in for a supernova. This base model is priced at $48,130.
Next in our list is Johannes Kepler High Artistry Astronomia Nova Limited Edition 9, a pen that is priced at $140,000 and which celebrates the year 1609 when Kepler’s book Astronomia Nova, was first published.
Last is Johannes Kepler High Artistry Somnium Limited Edition 5, which is model that features an automatic watch movement in the form of a moon-phase indicator on the cap, depending of the color you choose. Its price tag is between $513,000 and $556,000.
