More Power, Less Weight: The New McLaren 675LT
If you’re a cars enthusiast, and we’ll assume you are, because you’re reading this, than you will absolutely love the new McLaren 675LT.
The newcomer as you probably already guessed, is a higher-performance variant of the 650S, and the LT part of its name is derived from the wild 1997 F1 GT “Longtail”.
The new model is already considered an even more refined version of its predecessor, even though it shares about 67 percent of the parts of the old one.
Getting 666 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque from its 3.8-liter V8, the McLaren 675LT goes from 0 to 62 miles per hour in just 2.9 seconds, and reaches a top speed of 205 mph.
Being aerodynamically optimised, and featuring a dramatically enhanced styling lead to a 40 percent more down-force than the 650S.
More interesting enhancements brought to the 675LT include a redesigned cross-over exhaust system, bespoke to the 675LT, and formed from lightweight titanium.
The two circular titanium exhaust pipes which exit centrally through the exposed bodywork below the rear ‘Longtail’ Airbrake, were designed to optimise performance and reduce weigh.
It is, as the title states, more powerful, it weights less, and it looks breathtaking, so it seems that the guys from McLaren really took this car on a whole new level.
But you will have to see it for yourself, in order to understand how amazing it really is. So let’s take a quick peek at the new McLaren 675LT, and find out what makes it so special!
“The new 675LT, the first McLaren in nearly two decades to wear the LT – or ‘Longtail’ – name, will stay true to the spirit of its iconic predecessor.”
“The McLaren 675LT will make its world debut at the 85th Geneva Motor Show, with a clear focus on outright performance, weight reduction and ultimate levels of driver engagement.”
