5. The Walking Dead on AMC ($400,000 per 30 seconds)
Like The Big Bang Theory, this show’s rating also increases from year to year. As a fan of The Walking Dead, I think this goes along with the show’s progress. Compared to its first season in 2010, today’s episodes are more intense, thrilling, and darker. And there is no other show in the same genre can compete on that level.
From around 5 million viewers tuning in to the show’s premiere six years ago, last year’s average viewers rating is 13.15 million. And thanks to Negan’s eeny meeny miny moe, 17 million people sat in front of their TVs with AMC for season 7’s premiere in United States only.
It was 300,000 viewers short from season 5’s premiere which broke the world record of most-watched series episode in cable history. That season has the highest number of viewers on average as well with 14.4 million.
Besides those viewers, The Walking Dead has a huge and loyal fan-base all around the world. Thus, it should come as no surprise that people are willing to pay $400,000 to advertise on the show’s commercial break.
